Hvar is one of the pearls of the Adriatic with it’s cultural heritage, great beaches and aromatic lavender fields. Limestone hills are the backbone of this island, on which through history the Syracuse, Romans, Byzantines, Croatian kings, and the Venetians all have walked.
The Town of Hvar is often visited for its cultural heritage, so enriched because the Venetians had made the town a free-port for the traffic to the Orient. The Episcopal seat was housed here, and monasteries were build, Hvar has one of the oldest theatres of Europe. The summer festival in Hvar is not to be missed, great entertainment! Drive along the road to the village of Vrboska to enjoy the famous lavender fields of Hvar.
Hvar has some of the best and most beautiful beaches in the Adriatic. There are so many beaches that you can choose another one everyday, here is list of some well-known and easy accessible beaches. Keep in mind that there are many more hidden beaches and bays along the coast of the island, just go and search for them!
Amfora Beach – the town’s largest and most popular beach is located along the boardwalk at hotel Amfora. There is a restaurant, beach bar and several terraces, the facilities include showers as well as paddle-boat, catamaran, kayak, sunbed and sunshade rentals.
The Riva has been a hot spot of Hvar town for ages, and it is definitely a place to see and to be seen in. In front of Riva there are many local boats that will take you to the Pakleni islands and surrounding bays, where you can relax and sunbathe on secluded beaches far away from summer crowds.
The Dalmacija Beach in front of the Dalmacija Hotel has a beautiful pebble beach and clear blue water, on this beach you can rent sunbeds, boats or bikes, and there are couple of beach bars as well.
Sirena beach is located at hotel Sirena, only 2 km from the town of Hvar. This beach is nestled in a quiet bay, lined with green pine trees on its southern shore.
On the Paklinski islands just across the bay of Hvar town you have Palmizana, a beautiful beach with lots of flora and excellent swimming area. Also on Paklenski Islands the Soline beach, a pebble beach that is naturally protected from the wind.

Milna Beach, a picturesque beach that is very good for families with small children
Zarace Beach, beautifully located beach that is naturally protected from wind and waves
Bubovica Beach, just 8 km east of the town of Hvar a beach uniquely located and protected from the wind
The island has ferry connections with Split on the mainland and the island Korcula with Jadrolinija.
