The Archaeological Museum in Zagreb was founded in 1846 and is located in the Vranyczany-Hafner Palace. The museum holds about 460.000 items, which are systematically arranged in separate collections.
- Pre-historic collection – development of cultures from Palaeolithic to Early Iron Age
- Classic collection – Greek and Roman monuments
- Medieval collection – shows migration of peoples to the late Middle Ages
- Egyptian collection – displays unique items, with an exceptional mummy wrapped in linen and the earliest preserved Etruscan text in the world
- Coin collection – one of the largest and most significant in the world
- Library – 50.000 titles of world literature
- Lapidarum – outside in courtyard display of Roman stone monuments
