The island Rab lies parallel along the continental coast and the Velebit massive mountain area, creating a strong northern wind. That makes that side of the island rocky and windy.

However, the west side is protected from the wind, and has a mild climate, warm and shallow sea, sandy beaches thus making it an ideal holiday destination.
The town Rab, after which the island is named, is known for its four Venetian style clock-towers. Furthermore, the town has several churches, a cathedral and two monasteries.

The village Lopar at the end of a rocky peninsula offers great sandy beaches with a surrounding pine forest. There is plenty to do like tennis, football and mini-golf besides all kinds of water activities.

Beaches on Rab

Paradise (Rajska) beach is the largest and best known sandy beach in Lopar it is almost two kilometres long and has a wide range of tourist facilities. It has been awarded the blue flag for the quality of water, preservation of natural surroundings as well as safety.  The southern part of the beach is dog friendly.

Beach Mel is a sandy beach in Kampor, known for its very fine sand. The beach is easily reached by boat or car and it has a large parking area and nearby restaurants and cafes. There are many sport facilities, an entrance for disabled people and a part of the beach is dog friendly – ideal for families with children.

Suha Punta near Kampor is among the most beautiful parts of the island, it is covered with forest. The beautiful pebble and rocky beach is easy accessible by bike, there are deck chairs and parasols for rent, bars, cafes, restaurants, sport facilities, showers and toilets. If you come by car you can park next to the hotel.

Kandarola Beach is a well known destination for people that prefer their holidays without the restraints of clothes. The  island of Rab has one of the oldest naturist beaches in the world, where a certain king Edward the VIII and Walis Simpson took a skinny dip. The beach can be reached by taxi boats from Rab or Palot and it can also be reached by car; there is a restaurant, deck chairs and parasols for rent, showers and toilets.

Sahara Beach is about a 30 min walk from Rajska plaža, a beautiful sandy beach in a bay, it is the most famous nudist beach of Lopar. It is not far, but it is far enough for a bit of peace and quiet on your vacation. There are however no facilities on the beach so you have to take all your necessities with you.
