The coastal town of Senj is more than 3000 years old, and is one of the oldest cities in the northern Adriatic. It is located on a naturally beautiful spot on the foot of the mountains Kapela and Velebit – the biggest mountain in Croatia.
The symbol of the town is the fortress Nehaj built in 1558, Senj fort was the centre of the so-called ‘Uskoci’ who successfully defended the city against a strong Ottoman army. Go and see it for yourself; it is worth a visit.
There are plenty of opportunities for a relaxing beach or an active holiday, the sea lends itself for relaxed swimming, diving, sailing, and fishing. Visit the nearby mountains and NP Northern Velebit for hiking, cycling, free climbing, or even caving and don’t forget to visit the beautiful Plitvice lakes!

Beach Skver is the most popular beach in Senj an dis partly covered by pebbles and also has concrete slabs. It is a perfect beach for families with children, it has a children’s playground and showers. There are many bars and restaurants nearby for a lunch, snack or ice-cream.
