Dubrovnik City Walls

Dubrovacki Gradske Zidine

Dubrovnik, Kroatie

The city walls are the symbol of Dubrovnik and offer a splendid over over the city, the blue Adriatic sea and the mountainous hinterland. Build in the 10th century with additions made in the 13th century. The wall and parapet are 1.940m long and at some places even 25m high. The walls on the coastal side are at some points 6 m thick and is fortified by an outer wall with ten half round bastions. Other towers and the St. John Fort defend the part that looks over the Adriatic sea and harbour.
