The Liburnia Jazz Festival is a great yearly Jazz festival held in the Istrian town of Opatija. Liburnia was in ancient geography the land of the Liburnians, a region along the northern Adriatic coast, now modern Croatia. Jazz enthusiast from Croatia, and the rest of Europe and the world come to enjoy in this Jazz event, which takes place on the first weekend in July.
Performing are established jazz musicians, world-famous artists or promising young musicians whose talent has not yet been internationally discovered. During the festival, jazz music can be heard all over town, from various terraces and even from the sea, more precisely from the popular “Jazz Boat” that sails along the coast. The highlight of every festival day is the concert by a famous jazz star in the Open Air Theatre of Opatija.
