The full name of this museum is -Art Collection of Ante and Wiltrud Topić Mimara- after the donators of the collection. The museum was opened in 1987 and is located in a neo-renaissance palace from the 19th century which besides the museum houses a High School Gymnasium, an Elementary School and the First Private Art High School.

The Museum shows a collection with 3.750 works of art from different techniques and materials and from a range of cultures and civilizations. There are pictures and drawings from famous masters like Raphael, Velásquez, Rubens, Manet, Degas, Goya and Rembrandt. There are sculptures from antiquity to modern times and archaeological rarities from Egypt and ancient Greece.

There is a rare exhibit of art and craft of glass, showing the development in glass art from ancient Egypt, to the Roman Empire and the Venetian era. Beside these items of art and history, there is a library with as much as 5.400 titles.
