Castle Trakošćan Museum

Musej Dvor Trakošćan

Kasteel Trakoscan bij Varazdin, Kroatie

Castle Trakošćan was built in the late 13th century as part of a defence system for observing the road from Ptuj to the valley of Bednja.

The permanent exhibition of the museum is presented in a way that it represents the original function and gives an idea how the family of nobility – the Draskovic family – used to live in the castle. With objects from the 15th to the 19th century arranged in separate rooms and even the kitchen is decorated in it’s presumed original style.

The museum has valuable material from the Renaissance period to historicism, which is divided into several collections:

  • collection of weapons
  • collection of paintings and prints
  • collection of furniture
  • collection of books
  • collection of photographs
