Zavičajni Muzej Našice

Castle of Našice Local History Museum, Croatia

Našice is located in the east of Croatia between Osijek and Slavonski Brod. The Regional Museum of Našice was established in 1974 and is located in the city centre, in a beautiful Manor House once owned by the local noble family Pejacevici. The Manor was build in 1811, it is a single story late Baroque Manor with classicist features, and is situated in an English style park .

The Ethnographic collection shows the interior of a typical three room rural house – with textile, wooden items, musical instruments – from the beginning of the 20th century it gives a good insight in how people used to live around this area in these times.

The Našice region’s history has been presented using archaeological finds, as well as historical, and cultural-historical materials collected in the area.

The museum has the following departments with their thematic collections in separate rooms of the manor:

  • Hinko Juhn’s Memorial Room
  • Izidor Krsnjavi’s Memorial Room
  • Dora Pejacevic’s Memorial Room
  • A Historical Review of the Nasice Region
  • The Ethnographic Collection with a Peasant Room
  • The Fericanci Pottery Workshop
  • The “Izidor Krsnjavi” Gallery
  • The “Hinko Juhn” Art Colony’s Pottery Collection
  • The Mineralogical Collection (under establishment)

The large English type park surrounding the manor expands towards a creek and has an artificial pond shaped as a swan. The park is dominated by a common oak forest, with numerous autochthonous specimens that are extremely old (for example, 300 years old common oak trees).

In 1909 another Manor was built in the park, by the same owners, and this one is surrounded by a French style park with paths leading to the large park, surrounding and connecting both buildings.
