Renting a car in Croatia is gaining popularity as more cheap summer flights arrive at coastal towns. There are well known large rent-a-car companies and smaller local car rentals. You can rent-a-car at airports, larger cities and in holiday resorts. There are several islands along the coast where it is also possible to rent-a-car. It is advisable to inform about rental cars, their prices and conditions before arriving at your destination. Given the increase in popularity it is good to book your car in advance. Sometimes it is cheaper to rent a car at the mainland and go by ferry to a Croatian island than renting on the island itself.
