In the rural town Čakovec, located in the province Medimurje, the Day of the City Čakovec is celebrated every year on May 29th. In the year 1579 the count Juraj Zrinski awarded city privileges to the inhabitants of the suburbs surrounding the Zrinski castle. This date is now celebrated every year with lots of festivities in the city.
The celebration program this year lasts from May 25th – June 1st and offers a variety of activities. There are plenty of sport activities planned, a Festival of Flowers, Strawberries and Handicrafts, workshops, exhibitions, concerts and much more.
